Book Shelf

If I'm completely honest, I have more or less a billion parenting books on my bookshelf right now, and I have only read so many...
Here is a list of the parenting books, as well as home and family books that I HAVE read so far:
(***This is not sponsored!!! Just sharing what has helped me!!!***)

1. Christlike Parenting by Dr. Glenn I. Latham
This book is based on certain Christlike attributes and scriptures from the bible that the author has applied to parenting. This is the approach that is referred to as "positive parenting" that I so often refer to on this blog.

2. No Drama Discipline by Daniel J. Siegel, M.D. & Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D.
This book focuses on techniques that eliminate as much drama as possible from disciplinarian scenarios. It teaches the parent about the child's developing brain, and how to help children practice using the logical side of their brains rather than the emotional side. This is the method of discipline that I use in my home, and will be referred to a lot on this blog.

3. The Child Whisperer by Carol Tuttle
This book helps you identify the "energy profile" (similar to personality profile) of your child(ren). The author makes the point that every individual is born to one of four energy profiles. Understanding which energy profiles your children belong to helps you as a parent navigate your parenting style to fit the needs of each individual personality. Reading this book was like a breath of fresh air. Confirming what I already knew to be true, and helping me develop better skills for raising my feisty little one to be the best version of HERSELF.

4. Mothering With Spiritual Power by Debra Sansing Woods
This book, similar to Christlike Parenting, uses scriptures from The Book of Mormon to apply to motherhood and parenting. The author uses both the stories from The Book of Mormon, as well as her own personal experiences to teach parents how to raise their children with spiritual power. As the title of the book indicates. I found this book incredibly inspiring, uplifting, and empowering for mothers.

5. The Christ-Centered Home by Emily Belle Freeman
The author uses specific stories from the bible when Christ was in somebody's HOME. There is a lesson from each instance where Christ had entered the intimate walls of somebody else's home that can be applied to our own homes. This book has been very inspiring and uplifting to read and apply to my own home and family. My little family is currently working on applying the principles from this book!

6. In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms by Dr. Laura Schlessinger
This book is great if you are having any doubts about staying home with your little one(s). It is a nice pat on the back for all stay-at-home moms. I found this book very reassuring, and it helped me recognize where my attitude needed improvement! This book helped me see how much of a blessing choosing to stay home really is for EVERYONE in the home!
