30 Days of Positive Parenting Week 4

Week 4: Joy in the Journey

Parenting can be incredibly difficult.
We have all seen that one mom at the park or at the grocery store that just goes ape shiz on her kids, not giving a dang who's witnessing.
Heck, maybe sometimes WE are that mom!
It happens. And only a parent would understand.
Every time I see a mom loose her cool in public, I just think to myself, "I feel you mama. I feel you."

So this, the final week of positive parenting is all about finding Joy in the journey!
Because "Men are that they might have JOY"! (bible reference)
Parenthood is not all stress, working overtime, being deprived of all the things that we once loved- spontaneity, sleep, money, alone time, a great body, freedom. Etc.
It is all of those things. But it is also JOY!!!
So let us spend the next week focusing on the joyful side of parenting!

Ideas for finding joy in the journey:

Find a hobby that you can do WITH your child
Schedule one on one bonding time with each of your children. At least one hour for each child.
Use wholesome humor to improve the mood if it is sour
Snuggle up during quiet time or when you watch a movie
Look for opportunities to make your child smile or laugh
Play with your child
Read books together
Pray to see your child as God see's them
Encourage your child to be the best version of themselves
Avoid attempting to change your child
(If you are positive, happy, and encouraging, your child will feed off of those vibes and be positive, happy, and encouraging right back)
Seek learning opportunities in every trial
Seek the tender mercies in every trial
Note down, or Journal the good moments every day
Be thankful in your evening prayers- thanking God for each and every one of your children
Give yourself a different reason to love your child every day
Keep a gratitude journal of the reasons why Motherhood has changed your life for the better

Go ahead and select from this list any of the ideas that you personally feel that you could focus and improve on and apply it (or them) throughout the week!
Be diligent and consistent!
Nothing ever improves if we give up too easily.
Seeing results takes time.
Have daily reminders set around the house- sticky notes, write it on the mirror, put a reminder on your phone, whatever you need to keep these things in your mind CONSTANTLY!
Good luck!
